Last Sunday, after Church, I was lying on my bed while my husband sat facing his laptop, edited some photos. My body was resting, but my mind tried to remember my next week schedule and to do list. I am one of those women who want to do many things in her life; from getting the laundry done, helping others, and growing my own business. Currently, I work as a part time support worker, in a voluntary based, to help people with learning disabilities. I work 3 days a week. On the rest of the week I have to manage my time to do some boring chores, and working on my own dream job.
I love creating something. Transform an idea into a finish product is what excite me most. My dream job is simply working from home using my creativity. Andrew is with me, he supports me on building my own business from home. Having his support gains my confidence to create and create. So, I have been writing, designing, and sewing. But there is a problem. My mind just can’t stop from producing ideas, while my time is decreased by passion to help others, and my new role as a wife.
That time when I laid on my bed with my mind hardly ‘ticking’ like a bomb, I asked Andrew, “Love, can you help me setting up my timetable?”
I look at Andrew. He stopped moving the mouse around, and he looked at me. He seems confused just like me. “Why do you want me to set your timetable? How?” he asked me back. The rest of the conversation helped me to find clarity.
I believe God is God who creates. He blesses us with passion, knowledge and skills so that we can be creative in life. But sometime He just wants us to stop creating stuff, and wants us to create time for Him alone.
Then I remember the parable of the talents on Matthew 25:14-30. Remember the servant with one talent? He did do something with the talent he had: he went and created a hole. What I see on him is a misconception, and confusion. How if it wasn’t jealousy that made him dig the hole. How if it was because he didn’t know his master very well, and he had no idea what is the right thing to do with the talent on his hand?
_______________
The question now, “How if God wants us to stop creating?”
Push that pause button, and simply create time to know what God wants in our life before we create anything else using all the knowledge, skills, talents, and all the provision the Lord has given us.
Stay blessed,
