It has been raining since the morning. We got some errands to do today. My husband went to a solicitor while I browsed around local charity shops. I don’t buy clothes from charity shops anymore. They tend to get more expensive than Vinted these days. But there is nothing that can replace the fun of rummaging around charity shops. I got our net curtains from local charity shops last month and certainly, it was a bargain! I still come to charity shops for books, sewing patterns, or any knick-knacks and interesting goodies I can send to my penpals. This time, I spent a few quids from my budget for hobbies and I picked up some cards and sewing patterns. The ducks and giraffe cards are for sending to friends. When I saw these cards our friends came to my mind. The cross-stitched card caught my eye and I thought it will be nice to add to my penpalling goodies. Each card was sold for 50p. Absolute bargain!
Giraffe card for a friend who loves and collects anything girrafes. The duck card is for friends who love their pet duck. |
For 50p, I thought this was something unique to send to my pen pal later. |
I have started sewing again. This time I want to learn to use patterns, I will study them, and I will try to make my own pattern one day. So, I started to look out for sewing patterns at charity shops. These are three patterns I’ve recently got. Simplicity and Maudella were sold for £1 each. The other one is actually a booklet that contains 4 brand new patterns sold to me for £2. When I ask the lady how much for sewing patterns, she said carelessly £1 each. But when she realized that the booklet has has 4 unused patterns, she was very apologetic and marked up the price to £2. I thought it was reasonable so I said that’s alright. Anyway, it’s worth it!
Some sewing patterns I would like to try. |
My husband came to meet me at the second charity shop I went to –after the visit to the solicitor and to Dad’s shop to say hello. We then went to the dispensary at the GP to order my prescription. The lady said that my inhaler isn’t on the repeated prescription. Strange. She will try to ask about it. Let’s see. The rating of this surgery is not good and since I moved to the local surgery here, I cannot use my online NHS too. I did enquire about it in person and they said they will deal with it and give me a call. It’s been more than a month and the issue is still not resolved. I didn’t bother to ask today because the queue to the reception was so long. I will come back next week. The last place to visit was a grocery shop. We only picked up a few things and went back home.
I got a voicemail waiting. It was from the Fostering and Adoption Recruitment Team. I will call them back on Monday. I’ve got enough things to do for today. Anyway, more things to do today from home and I am pleased that I have a productive day.

Coram Deo:
On the way out from the grocery shop parking, I saw a car for sale at the local garage. I said to Andrew “We need to pray for me to get a car.” We then had a brief discussion on the matter of bringing things in prayer. When it comes to spending, although I am frugal, I can be very impulsive. The Holy Spirit has been working in my heart to commit everything, including spending, to the Lord. To ask things in prayer for what I need or want. I am praying for a car. It is really difficult to live in a small town far from the city without a personal car. We are thankful that the Lord blesses us with the car we have, but certainly, I cannot rely on Andrew when he has to work in Cambridge. Car is a privilege. If it is the Lord’s will for me to drive my own car, He certainly will provide.
