One evening, I sat under my husband’s teaching. He preached on Paul’s epistle to the Philippians, and I was so convicted and found myself in tears.
Will I be ready to stand alone?
Knowing my husband and his convictions, I know deep down that our path won’t be easy, that rejections and persecutions are waiting. I have been praying and looking around for examples from older ladies on how to be the ezer kenegdo who is ready for that difficult season. Friends said I’m expecting the worst. But I know regenerate Christians are called to carry the cross. I know the cross Christ mentioned is not a trivial discomfort, but to the point of death. I think the church has failed to encourage us on this.
I was scared to stand alone until that very convicting sermon I heard from my husband. In God’s grace, yet again I found peace. I know my God will supply the strength. And if He is glorified through us that way, His will be done!
I stopped looking around, for example, at older ladies. I rested my case in God’s gracious hands. He sees, He cares, He prays for me. He teaches me to be that ezer kenegdo by showing me what ebenezer means.
The Lord has been keeping me, and I know He will continue to be my rock!
Standing alone started to feel familiar, and I am content with my lot. But then God blesses us with like-minded brothers and sisters. Those who have been through what we have been through. Those who had to stand alone, despised, rejected, persecuted, yet they taught me to love.
It has been a whirlwind journey, but I have gained so much!
What a blessed assurance knowing I am in the safe hands of the Almighty.
